Why Do I Need A Loan To Help With Vet Bills?
Vet bills can often be unexpected. There is no way of predicting if your pet is going to get sick and need medicine or an operation. Vet bills can often be high and mount up quickly. But what choice do we have? We care for our pets like they are our own family, and we want what’s best for them. You can’t always get financial aid for vet bills either, so it’s down to you to come up with the cash for your precious pooch or beloved kitty.
For those desperate, and often frightening times, we are here to help. A short term loan can be the difference between your pet getting the treatment it needs, and not. So let us give you a helping hand.
How It Works
1. You Apply Online For Free
Our online application is as easy as can be. All you need to do is give some basic information about yourself, your circumstances, and the type of personal loan you need. Submitting the application shouldn’t take more than a few minutes of your time and is 100% free. No sign ups, no contracts. Your loan application will be put in front of hundreds of lenders to give you the best chance of finding the loan you need.
2. We Find You A Lender
We will then get to work on finding you a lender who can offer you the quick loan you’re looking for. With hundreds of lenders to choose from, we have a high success rate in matching you with a lender. If applying during normal business hours, we could find you a match within 60 minutes of receiving your application. If outside of business hours you will be contacted on the next working day.
3. A Lender Will Be In Touch
Once we’ve found a lender to meet your needs, they will be in touch with you directly to discuss the details. They may require some extra information from you before the final agreement is made. If you receive a loan offer, you are under no obligation to accept it. If you’re not happy with the terms, you can just say no – simple as that. Once you’ve signed the loan contract, a repayment plan will be set up between you and the lender, and your loan will be on its way to you, hooray!
Who Can Apply?
We are proud to help people from all over New Zealand secure the loan they need. Whether they need $500 to go on holiday, $5,000 for vet bills or $50,000 for house repairs, we find a lender to match.
There are just a few simple criteria you must meet to apply for a loan with Jacaranda.
- Be 18 years of age or over.
- Receive a regular income into a personal bank account for at least 90 days.
- Have a direct contact number.
- Have an email address.
Did you say ‘yes!’ to all of the above? Here is what you will need to apply for your loan:
- A bank statement showing proof of income for the past 90 days.
- Your lender may also ask for copies of bills and payslips to prove your income and expenditure
- Your ID, such as a driving licence or passport may be required by the lender to verify identity.
- You may also need to provide your employer’s phone number for the lender to carry out a routine employment check. Do not worry, no details will be revealed of your loan application during this phone call.
Can I Apply If I’m On Government Benefits?
Yes, of course! Being on government benefits is no reason you shouldn’t be able to get loans for vet bills! We welcome applications from anyone on government benefits providing they can still meet the other criteria mentioned above. All credit providers must conduct an assessment to ensure that what they’re offering you is affordable and suitable.

How Much Can I Borrow?
We understand that bills can mount up quickly, which is why we work with lenders who offer easy loans from $300 to $10,000. Repayment terms are from 12 months to 24 months. Your maximum repayment term will depend on how much you need to borrow.
How Will I Receive My Loan?
Once the loan has been agreed, the contract signed, and a repayment plan set up, your lender will usually send you the money directly via bank transfer. This can take as little as a few hours, or sometimes longer depending on who you bank with.
How Much Will A Loan Cost Me?
The total cost of your loan will depend on how much you borrow, and how long you need to pay it back.
Repayment terms and interest rates will vary from lender-to-lender, but the example below gives an indication of how much a loan might cost you.
- Loan amount: $2,500 repaid over 13 months
- Weekly payment: $75.05
- Total interest: $1,702.80
- Total repayable: $4,202.80
- Monthly interest rate: 9% AIR: 108%
The interest rate you will pay on your loan varies between 1.5% and 20% per month. Always read the full terms of any contract before you sign it.
*This is a repayment estimate only. Your lender will determine the exact fees, terms and loan amount available for you, which may alter your repayments. Annualised Interest Rates (AIR) could be as high as 620.5% depending on your personal situation.
How Do Repayments Work?
Once you have agreed your loan with a lender, you will need to set up a repayment schedule. This will usually be done via direct debit directly to your lender on a weekly or monthly basis.
If your circumstances change and you cannot afford your repayments, you must contact your lender immediately. Given notice, they may be able to come to an arrangement to stop you defaulting on your loan.
